​Let's Build with AdonisJS​

Late in October, we started a brand new series called Let’s Build with AdonisJS. This series is going to be long-form videos done via livestreams where we specifically focus on building an application. To start with, we’ll be rebuilding adocasts.com.

1. ​Rebuilding Adocasts, Start & Auth​
   In this livestream we create a new project, install and configure the Lucid and Auth packages. Define our migrations and model schema. And hammer down basic authentication.
   ​

​Let's Learn AdonisJS 5​

In October, we finished up the Routing module on our Let’s Learn Adonis 5 series. We discussed multi-file route file strategies, generating urls and signed urls, and how to extend the Adonis Router using macros.

1. ​Multi-File Route Grouping Strategies​
   In this lesson, we’ll discuss strategies you can use to apply multiple files worth of route definitions into a single route group without redefining the route group in each file.
   ​
2. ​Generating URLs and Signed URLs​
   In this lesson, we’ll be focusing specifically on generating URLs from our route definitions. We’ll cover generating generic URLs, signed URLs, redirect URLs, and more.
   ​
3. ​Extending the Adonis Router and Route Matchers​
   In this lesson, we’ll be learning how we can add our own chainable methods using macros to the Adonis Router’s Route, Route Group, Route Resource, Brisk Route, and Matchers properties…

Miscellaneous Lessons

Lastly, we had a miscellaneous lesson in October that kind of coincided with us finishing up the Routing module in the Let’s Learn Adonis 5 series. It covered how to add a global property onto your HttpContext.

1. ​How To Add A Global Property To Your HttpContext in AdonisJS 5​
   In this lesson, we’ll be covering how we can extend our HttpContext with a new property that we’ll populate using a route parameter.

Outlook for November

So, in November I’m going to be altering my schedule slightly. I used to post new lessons on Saturdays and the occasion Wednesday. Now, I’m going to move new lessons to Wednesday and instead livestream on the weekend, whether that be Friday night, Saturday, or both. Starting out the livestreams will probably exclusively be the Let’s Build with AdonisJS series where we rebuild adocasts.com.

Also, I didn’t get around to some of the lessons I wanted to in October, and I’ll now plan those for November. These are lessons like validating nullable fields and route-model binding.
